SERVICES
The Vilas County Department of Social Services provides a variety of public assistance programs such as economic support, child welfare, adult protective services, and long-term care support programs.
Economic Support Services determine eligibility for the FoodShare Program, the Medicaid Programs which include BadgerCare Plus, the Energy Assistance Program, and the Child Care subsidy program.
Child Welfare Services include child abuse and neglect investigations, case management of children and youth in substitute care, offers assistance in a variety of Child Welfare situations, and also works with community organizations relating to children.
Adult Protective Services includes Elder Abuse Investigations, Adult-at-Risk Investigations, Guardianships and Protective Placements, often works in-conjuction with the Corporation Counsel's Office, Vilas County Sheriff's Department and Vilas County Circuit Court.
Long-term Care Support Services includes the Community Options Program and Medical Assistance Waiver Services where the goal is to maintain individuals in their home that may otherwise be at-risk of going to a nursing home. These programs service a variety of individual needs such as; lifeline, home delivered meals, transportation, supportive home care workers, personal care workers and case management. Individuals served are the Frail Elderly, Physically Disabled, and Chronically Mentally Ill. There is a waiting list for this service.
